Dingboche to Lukla Helicopter Flight Cost Starting USD 350

Dingboche sits at 4,410 m, and a decision usually forms here!
Your legs are tired, your flight home is fixed, and the long descent through Namche still waits. So, which helicopter booking makes sense, and what will it cost?
Most trekkers assume there is one fare. In reality, we sell three routes from this village, and the gap between them surprises people.
This guide breaks down the Dingboche to Lukla helicopter flight cost on both of our Lukla packages, plus the direct Kathmandu option. Our team flies the Khumbu every season, so we will keep the numbers honest!
Dingboche to Lukla Helicopter Flight Cost: Our Two Packages
We run two Lukla packages from Dingboche, and their starting fares look identical.
- Dingboche to Lukla helicopter flight with Kathmandu extension: shared seat from USD 350 per person, private charter from USD 1,300 for up to 4 passengers.
- Dingboche to Lukla helicopter flight: shared seat from USD 350 per person, private charter from USD 1,500 for up to 5 passengers.
Departures run from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, although mornings give the clearest skies!
The flight takes about 15 to 20 minutes and lands at Lukla, around 2,860 m. Walking the same descent takes 2 to 3 days, so even the base fare buys back real time.
So, where does the real difference sit? Not in the Lukla fare, but in what happens after you land. The Kathmandu extension carries a separate cost, and we quote it on top of the base flight.
So, never read a Lukla fare as a Kathmandu fare. Add the second leg to your budget before you decide!
Which Dingboche to Lukla Helicopter Package Fits Your Trip?
Choose the extension package if you want to fly to Lukla, spend some time there, and decide later whether to continue to the capital by helicopter.
It suits trekkers who want a night and a hot meal in Lukla, and who prefer to watch the forecast before committing! Moreover. it keeps that second leg open without forcing a decision on the mountain.
Does this mean the Kathmandu flight is included? No. It costs extra, and we quote it individually for your date and routing!
Choose the plain Lukla package if Lukla is your finish line. From there, you decide what to do!
Some trekkers take a scheduled plane, and in peak months many of those leave from Manthali in Ramechhap, about 132 km by road from Kathmandu. Others simply rest a night in Lukla first!
Prefer to skip the stopover and keep everything under one booking? You can book our Dingboche to Kathmandu Helicopter package directly. It takes about 50 to 70 minutes, and it removes both the Lukla step and the Manthali road transfer!
Many guests plan this from the start with an Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return, walking up and flying down when their legs ask for it.
Cost Difference Between Lukla Only, Lukla Plus Kathmandu, or Direct
Here is the maths most price lists skip. All figures use our starting fares, so extension quotes can shift with the date.
| Route | Shared seat (per person) | Private charter (whole aircraft) |
| Dingboche to Lukla (extension package) | USD 350 | USD 1,300 (up to 4) |
| Dingboche to Lukla (Lukla-only package) | USD 350 | USD 1,500 (up to 5) |
| Lukla to Kathmandu Helicopter (added leg) | USD 500 | USD 2,500 (up to 5) |
| Dingboche to Kathmandu (direct) | USD 800 | USD 4,500 (up to 5) |
On shared seats, Lukla plus Kathmandu adds up to USD 850. The direct flight costs USD 800, so it saves USD 50 per person and one extra booking!
A couple makes it concrete: two shared seats cost USD 1,700 across both legs, against USD 1,600 direct.
Private charters flip that result. Four people on the extension package pay USD 3,800 for both legs, or USD 950 each. Five people on the Lukla-only package pay USD 4,000, or USD 800 each!
The direct charter costs USD 4,500, which is USD 900 to 1,125 each. Therefore, a private group saves USD 500 to 700 by splitting the journey at Lukla.
Seat type matters too. Four people pay USD 1,400 on shared seats, but only USD 1,300 on the extension charter. On the Lukla-only charter, however, you need all 5 seats filled before it beats shared seats (USD 1,500 against USD 1,750).
What Else Moves the Dingboche to Lukla Helicopter Flight Price?
Altitude does most of the quiet work! Thin air gives the rotors less lift, and a warm morning thins it further. Because of this, our team at Namche Heli Service plans fuel, passengers, and bags around weight at 4,410 m.
We ask for every passenger’s weight at booking, and the pilot has the final word on the day. Our terms allow typically 10 to 15 kg of baggage per person. We suggest packing a soft duffel, and tell us early about ice axes or crampons from Island Peak.
Season and weather come next! March to May and October to November fill fast, and the clear mornings go first. Helicopters here fly by sight, and a clear sky over Dingboche says little about Namche or Lukla.
If we cancel for safety, you can choose a refund or a new date. Lodge nights and meals during the wait are not covered, though, so keep a spare day before any international flight. Note that two separate legs also mean two weather windows!
How to Book Your Dingboche to Lukla Flight?
Booking takes one message with Namche Heli Service! Just send our team your date, group size, seat type, and each passenger’s name, nationality, passport number and weight on WhatsApp.
One thing to note though: only after you drposit a 50% advance confirms the flight. In fact, you should clear the balance at least 24 hours before departure.
Treat the date as flexible until you receive written confirmation. If you cancel 7 or more days ahead, our terms return 90% of the fare, so ask before you cancel!
Trekkers finishing higher can ask about our Gorakhep to Kathmandu Helicopter, Gorakshep to Lukla Helicopter, Phireche to Lukla Helicopter and Phireche to Kathmandu Helicopter routes.
If you have no time to trek, try the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour or the Everest helicopter tour. A Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu Helicopter trip is a round trip from the capital, so it never collects anyone from Dingboche!
One honest warning: A quick descent does not treat altitude illness. A worsening headache, confusion, or breathlessness at rest needs medical care, so call your insurer or a rescue operator.
Note that these bookings are transfers, never your emergency plan. Check that your own insurance covers planned helicopter flights, because our third-party liability cover does not protect you personally.
Now, message us on WhatsApp with your dates and group size, and we will quote the route that fits!
